Hannah’s prayer in the temple - a barren woman weeping before the LORD of Armies - is one of Scripture’s most honest portraits of faith through long suffering.
Full sung version coming soon.
Lyrics
Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking In bitterness of soul, she prayed to the LORD Weeping bitterly
She was sorrowful in spirit For her womb was shut up Her rival provoked her severely Year by year, when she went up to the LORD’s house
LORD of Armies If you will look at the affliction of your servant Remember me and not forget me But give to your servant a boy
Then I will give him to the LORD All the days of his life No razor shall come upon his head
Hear my prayer, LORD Hear my prayer Let my prayer enter into your presence Turn your ear to my cry
She prayed before the LORD She poured out her soul Only her lips moved Her voice was not heard
Eli saw her mouth moving And said, How long will you be drunk But she answered, No, my lord I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit
I have not been drinking wine I have poured out my soul before the LORD Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman I have spoken out of the abundance of my complaint
Hear my prayer, LORD Hear my prayer Let my prayer enter into your presence Turn your ear to my cry
Go in peace And may the God of Israel Grant your petition
