Abigail’s bold intervention stops a blood feud - a woman of wisdom and courage steps between David’s fury and her foolish husband, and God vindicates her. 1 Samuel 25 records Samuel’s death, Nabal’s contempt, and Abigail’s fearless intercession in the Carmelite highlands.

Lyrics
Samuel died and all Israel mourned for him and buried him in his house Now there was a man in Maon whose possessions were in Carmel And the man was very great and had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats
The name of the man was Nabal and the name of his wife Abigail And she was a woman of good understanding and of a beautiful form But the man was harsh and evil in his dealings
And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep So David sent out ten young men and David said to the young men Go up to Carmel and go to Nabal and greet him in my name
And you shall say, Long life to you and peace be to you And peace be to all that you have Now I have heard that you have shearers Your shepherds have been with us and we did them no harm
Neither was there anything missing to them All the while they were in Carmel with us Ask your young men and they will tell you Therefore let the young men find favour in your eyes
We have come on a good day, give, I pray you Whatever comes to your hand to your servants And to your son David But Nabal answered David’s servants and said
Who is David and who is the son of Jesse There are many servants now a days who break away Every man from his master Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat
That I have killed for my shearers And give it to men of whom I know not where they are So David’s young men turned their way and went again And came and told him all these words
And David said to his men, Gird on every man his sword So every man girded on his sword and David also girded on his sword And about four hundred men went up after David
And two hundred stayed with the baggage But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife saying Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness
