Josiah’s great Passover celebration fills 2 Chronicles 35 - the most faithfully kept Passover since Samuel’s day - before the chapter turns to one of Israel’s most mourned tragedies.
Full sung version coming soon.
Lyrics
And Josiah kept a Passover unto the Lord in Jerusalem And they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month
And he set the priests in their charges and encouraged them to the service of the house of the Lord And said to the Levites that taught all Israel and were holy unto the Lord
Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build It shall be no more a burden upon your shoulders now serve the Lord your God
And prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your divisions According to the writing of David king of Israel and according to the writing of Solomon his son
And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses Of your brethren the children of the people and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house
Of Levites And kill the Passover and sanctify yourselves and prepare for your brethren
That they may do according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses And Josiah gave to the children of the people a number of lambs and kids all of them for the Passover
For all that were present to the number of thirty thousand and three thousand bullocks These were of the king’s substance And his princes gave willingly unto the people
To the priests and to the Levites Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel rulers of the house of God Gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle and three hundred oxen
The Passover celebrated, the people gathered The covenant remembered, the kingdom restored
