Lyrics

It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth Paul passed through the upper country And came to Ephesus and found certain disciples And he said to them did you receive the Holy Spirit When you believed

They said to him we haven’t even heard Whether there is a Holy Spirit He said into what then were you baptised They said into John’s baptism Paul said John baptised with the baptism of repentance

Saying to the people that they should believe On the one who should come after him That is on Jesus when they heard this They were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus And when Paul had laid his hands on them

The Holy Spirit came on them And they spoke with tongues And prophesied about twelve men total He entered into the synagogue and spoke boldly For three months reasoning and persuading

Concerning God’s Kingdom But when some were hardened And didn’t believe but spoke evil of the Way He departed from them and separated the disciples Reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus

This continued for two years So that all those who dwelt in Asia Heard the word of the Lord Jesus Both Jews and Greeks God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul

So that even handkerchiefs and aprons were carried away From his skin to the sick And the diseases left them And the evil spirits went out But certain ones of the wandering Jews

Took it on themselves to name over those who had the evil spirits The name of the Lord Jesus saying I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches But the evil spirit answered and said Jesus I know and Paul I know

But who are you And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them And overcame them all so that they fled out of that house And the word of the Lord grew and prevailed mightily
