Neriah was the father of Baruch, Jeremiah's scribe who recorded the prophet's messages directly as Jeremiah spoke them. When Baruch read these scrolls publicly in the temple, King Jehoiakim burned them in fury, yet God preserved the words and had them rewritten. Neriah's son became one of Scripture's most faithful record-keepers during Judah's final days.
