Mount Ebal

One of two mountains (paired with Gerizim) where Joshua led Israel to renew the covenant after entering Canaan. Moses had commanded that curses be proclaimed from Ebal and blessings from Gerizim, making the mountains twin theaters for covenant ratification. The location became a symbolic marker of Israel's commitment to God's law.
